The Goa government is to deport Nigerians residing in the state illegally, while withdrawing cases related to minor offences against Nigerians. The trigger for the crackdown is the huge protest from the Nigerians upon the murder of one among them, an act that the Africans are blaming on a local gang. Manohar Parikkar, the state’s CM had labelled them “huge and aggressive” and hence difficult to control. In the background is Goa’s notorious drug trade which is split between Russians, Nigerians and the locals. In retaliation, Nigeria is threatening to throw out Indians from its country.
