Trust in Indian companies has declined sharply since 2011, falling from 42 percent to 33, according to a study conducted by Edelman. Germany and France are the developed markets that have the least trust in companies headquartered in India. While 83 per cent of respondents in India trust India-based MNCs, in developed markets, the trust stands at only 29 per cent. The trust deficit is attributable to low brand awareness of Indian companies and low recall value of Indian CEOs. Among emerging markets, Brazil is the most trusted.
