Punjab demands complete waiver of Rs 22,202 cr loan

The Punjab government has demanded complete waiver of the outstanding small savings loan of Rs. 22, 202 crore or grant of moratorium on repayment of principal and interest for five years from the current fiscal.

Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal took up this issue with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Monday evening.

Mukherjee assured the Chief Minister that he would soon convene a meeting of the senior officers of the Ministry to settle all the pending issues of Punjab on the priority after getting them thoroughly examined.
