Padma misuse

The Andhra Pradesh High Court wants Telugu film actors Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam to return their ‘Padma Shri’ awards for violation of rules accompanying them and prefixing ‘Padma Shri’ to their names in credits of a movie.The rules of the award prohibit suffixing or prefixing the award name as a title on letterheads, invitations, posters, books etc. The duo carried their award as a title in the movie ‘Denikina Ready’ after which BJP leader N Indrasena Reddy filed a petition against them. Mohan Babu and Brahmanandam were awarded ‘Padma Shri’ in 2007 and 2009, respectively.
