UN Chief Hails Iran role

Underscoring Iran’s role in the regional stability, especially so in Syria, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has once again stressed on Iran’s participation in the planned Geneva II Conference over Syria, scheduled for later this month. “We very much hope they will reach agreement on Iran’s participation,” the UN secretary general was reported as saying earlier this week. He also termed Iranian role as “critical” to the outcome of the conference. Some western capitals have shown reluctance in involving Iran for the conference and have tried to sideline and isolate Tehran with little success.
