Social Security

The Mahatma Gandhi Pravasi Suraksha Yojana will provide social security to some five million Indian blue collar workers in 17 countries. Under the scheme, contributions will be made towards savings for return and resettlement, pension, and life insurance cover during the period of overseas employment. The scheme follows other initiatives like the setting up of the Indian Community Welfare Fund in all missions, signing of similar MoUs with major countries having Indian populations, and the e-Migrate project cater to workers in the Emigration Check Required category.
