Iran Invited For Geneva II

After much confusion, UN Secretary General Ban ki-Moon has finally sent a formal invitation to Iran to participate in the Geneva II dialogues on the Syrian crisis. “As I have said repeatedly, I believe strongly that Iran needs to be part of the solution to the Syrian crisis,” Ban told media early this week. “ Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif and I agree that the goal of the negotiations is to establish, by mutual consent, a transitional governing body with full executive powers,” he further added.Meanwhile Syrian opposition has threatened that it will withdraw from the dialogue if the invitation is not rescinded.
