It refers to your cover story "Sugar at Rs 100/kg" (TSI, September 7-13). Sugar prices have been surging for several weeks. It seems to have gone completely out of the government’s control now. It shows that Sugar is now a political commodity as exploration of sugar prices have turned politically sensitive with some state elections. In our country, there maybe a shortage of sugar but there is no shortage of sugarcane. If we produce all the sugarcane in sugar we will have more than enough for consumption.
