Ayushman Khurana | Vicky Donor |

Aayushman Khurana has come a long way from being a reality show participant to a male lead actor. In between, he dabbled with many things while he became a VJ, he also anchored some of the television's most successful shows and then landed up with a opportunity of a lifetime with John Abraham's 'Vicky Donor' through which he entered the Bollywood. Prakriti Raj from TSI talks to the newborn star about him and his journey:
First of all congrats for the success of your film 'Vicky Donor', while doing this movie did you think that the film would receive such a success?
I am very happy with the response that the movie has received and I think the reason behind this is that the story is a bit unusual. The movie was made while keeping in mind the current trends and that is why people received it so well.
Do you think the film as a turning point in your career?
I have had quite a few turning points in my life. When I came to Roadies that was also a dream come true for me. Then I became a VJ, an anchor and now I am an actor, all of these are turning points because all those things led me here where I am now. I have always been blessed with whatever I wanted and for that I am grateful of God. I don't have any Godfather in the industry and am lucky to get such a blockbuster hit right at the start of my career.
Were you slightly apprehensive while playing the character of a sperm-donor?
I didn't make any extra effort to go into the character, it was not that simple either. Since this was my first film I wanted to give my best and so I did a workshop with a theater group which actually helped me a lot.
Now that you are an actor, so does that mean that VJ and anchoring are sidelined now?
I wanted to become an actor right from my childhood. I was hesitant initially but with the sucess of my first film, I have that confidence now and would love to concentrate on acting as of now.
If you always wanted to be an actor then why did you take such a long gap between Roadies and Vicky Donor?
I started getting offers after I won Roadies but I didn't like any of those scripts. After reading them I didn't feel like that 'Ok', this is the script I should start with and so I waited for a long time. As soon as I heard the script of 'Vicky Donor' I liked it and agreed to do the movie.
Now since you are an actor, would you like to work for small screen?
For an actor the medium is not as important as work and in present scenario television is a more powerful medium. With television the only problem is that since you come on screen evryday there is hardly any room left to do something new each and every day. While in films I can do that. I don't mind doing less number of films but whatever I do should be performance based.
Whom would you like to work with in future?
I am a newbee in this industry and it would really be a honour for me if any big star agrees to work with me. I want to work with everybody and it is difficult to choose any one but if you want to talk about my favourite actor then it would be Amitabh Bachchan. He is fit even at this age and carry a whole movie on his own.
What's next after 'Vicky Donor'?
I am working on quite a few films but nothing is fixed as of now. As I said earlier I only want to do performance based film.
