Theatre helped developing my acting skills, says new comer Satyajeet

Twenty-year-old Satyajeet Dubey, who makes his debut with Shah Rukh Khan's 'Always Kabhi Kabhi', says theatre background helped him in honing his acting skills.  "Theatre helped me a lot though I have not acted or performed on stage but I used to do back stage work. So by observing theatre artists and some renowned actors like Naseeruddin Shah...I learnt a lot. I don't have any filmi background. I think my observation worked well for me," Satyajeet told PTI in an interview.

On tips from SRK, Satyajeet said, "Shahrukh Khan is a great inspiration for all of us. He just advised to put all your heart in whatever you do and said I must give my 100 per cent and be honest towards work."

Directed by debutant Roshan Abbas, the film is produced by SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment and is based on the theme of high-school life. It will see four debutants-- producer Karim Morani's daughter Zoa, Giselle Monterio, who played Harleen alongside Saif Ali Khan in 'Love Aaj Kal', Satyajit
Dubey and Ali Fazal.

About his character, Satyajeet said, "I am playing Tariq Naqvi. He is a geek and his heart is of pure gold. He is a very chilled out person and people call him Einstein as he is a very thinking guy. I am paired opposite Zoa. Ours is a love-hate relation."

Satyajeet gave 127 auditions before getting his first TV commercial - 'Jhansi Ki Rani'. He has featured in ads of Pizza Hut, HDFC, Reliance Big TV and others.  "I came to Mumbai when I was 16. I completed my schooling in Bilaspur and came to Mumbai to become an actor. I started doing theatre and lot of advertisements. I got my big break after 127 auditions. Later, Roshan's wife Shaheen saw me in one of the ads and suggested me for the film," he said.

The film is set to release on June 17.
