The cover story, “The Great Indian Dynasties” (TSI, Dec 28-Jan10) made an interesting read. Sutanu Guru rightly mentioned that while new talents are sprouting in other streams like sports, arts, etc., it is in politics that we see more and more of dynasties ruling. Why? Do we not have good qualified politicians? When every politician quotes Mahatma Gandhi and his Dream India, they do not follow his example. Although his surname can capture so many votes even today, he did not encourage his family to join politics. Had he done so, he could have easily ensured dynastic rule for centuries. Politicians come together only when it comes to issues like pay rise for MPs, use of A/C vehicles, free air tickets for families etc. The day they will follow what they say, India will rise.
