The board of directors of Anheuser-Busch (BUD) decided to sell its stakes to InBev (the Belgium-based international brewer) at $70 per share, for a total value of $49.91 billion, and also decided to name the new entity as Anheuser-Busch InBev. Anheuser will receive two seats on the board. It creates a striking shift for the Bud board and its managing Busch family, which, in spite of some sustenance for the bid from some members, originally fought the idea of a takeover by InBev. But, despite spending many weeks fighting the offer, the Anheuser-Busch board eventually headed for the bargaining table last week once InBev agreed to raise the price to $70 from $65. InBev has been assigned a 'BBB+' long-term and 'A-2' short-term corporate credit ratings by Standard & Poor's Ratings Services soon after its merger agreement with U.S. brewer Anheuser-Busch Cos Inc.
