The identity crisis

 

 

Kudos to Arindam Chaudhuri for his editorial, "Hats off to Shah Rukh Khan..." (TSI, Feb 8-14). It is nothing but a free expression of one’s inner voice. The viewpoint expressed in the edit echoes the inner feelings of any ordinary Indian. Unfortunately, ‘Maha-Rashtra’ is under the autocratic control of Thackerays, for whom the state is their fiefdom. Their antics are nothing more than aiming at petty political gains at the cost of integrity of the entire state. Dividing the nation on the basis of region, religion or language may help the hooligans but is not going to fulfil the cherished dreams of Shivaji and Gokhale. What would be Mumbai without Kapoors, Ambanis, Tatas, Khans, Bachchans, Wadias and millions of others who made it their home and gave the city its identity!
