It took more than a month for Bengal police to arrest the three accused behind the blackmailing of Jesmina Bibi (28), a mother of two, from Murshidabad district with morphed nude picture which forced her commit suicide.
On Tuesday, while briefing the press, the district Police Super Humayun Kabir confirmed, “Soon after the incident took place these three key accused were somehow fled to Haryana. Through our various sources we have finally been able to take them into custody in transit remand.”
The accused Emdad-ul Sheikh, Billal Sheikh and Miltan Sheikh have already been brought to Murshidabad and been produced to the court on Wednesday.
“Being thoroughly interrogated all the three have admitted their crime and confessed that it was actually the other accused Jarina Bibi who somehow took the picture of Jesmina without her knowing about it. And then they morphed her picture and circulated in the village with a purpose of blackmailing,” Kabir added. The said Jarina Bibi is still absconding.
These all refer to our earlier reported incident of mid-February when police found the body of Jesmina hanging from a tree in Domkal, Bagdanga Village. After the primary investigations, Police revealed that unable to cope up with blackmailing the traumatized woman had actually left no option left rather to commit suicide. Talking to media, Ansar Sheikh, the husband of the deceased, admitted that he too had seen the nude picture of his wife.
“How could I know that this was actually a fake picture? It was about our social reputation so I met Kalu and literally begged him not to circulate the picture. But he didn’t pay any attention. Then only after the intervention of Gram Panchayat, Kalu promised that he would never spread it again and would delete the photo from his mobile. But on the day of incident he did it again. And that forced my wife to commit suicide,” alleged, Ansar.
He soon lodged a complaint against Emdad-ul Sheikh, Billal Sheikh, Miltan Sheikh, Milan Mandol and Jarina Bibi.
