Located in Kerala, it is now one of the major attractions for the Indian as well as the international filmmakers.

Athirappilly is a remote and calm hilly landscape with its waterfall, approximately 80 feet high, as the centre of attraction. The place gives a Zen experience to thousands of tourists and nature lovers from various parts of India and abroad. In the beauty of this picturesque waterfall, the whole atmosphere stands still with the small drops of water gently touching the face.

Apart from the waterfall, is a forest that seems endless, bestowing the thrill of primitivity. At Athirappilly, the Chalakkudy river displays a mega show for tourists with its smooth flowing waters suddenly turning turbulent when it surges around big rocks, then cascading down like a water nymph, and then again flowing quietly. The charm of the walk to the top of the waterfall through a paved path that leads through thick bamboo clusters, and then the walk down a steep narrow path leading to the bottom of the falls, is simply admirable.

And yes, if you’re lucky enough, you might catch some comic antics of monkeys while strolling around.

Even though it has a glamorous perception, thanks to its reputation of being the most sort after locale in movies, Athirappilly doesn’t fail to maintain its ordinariness. Steering the course

The Cochin International Airport is approximately 30 kms away. One could also take the train to Chalakkudy railway station. Local buses and cabs are available from the airport and railway station for Athirapilly.
