The mounting losses, increasing input costs, et al, are taking a toll on the Indian aviation sector. Players are trying every trick in the book to cut costs and come out of this financial turmoil. Naresh Goyal-promoted Jet Airways has proposed a plan on similar line, by cutting down the pay packages up to 25% of its engineers, pilots and other staff members. This plan also includes the introduction of voluntary retirement scheme for older employees. After its unsuccessful attempt to axe 1,900 employees in October, the current cost cutting strategy seems to be Jet's only option at the moment.
