SAA Advances in Qalamoun

After weeks of fighting, the Syrian Arab Army is on the verge of taking over a key supply route in the Qalamoun region from the opposition. The town of Qalamoun is now the only route through which militants receive men and material from Lebanon and closing it down will not only secure the area but will also make Damascus countryside out of the reach of militants. Qalamoun is one of the areas where Hezbollah fighters are assisting the Syrian Arab Army in securing the town. The campaign has caused massive casualty among the rebels who have seen their escape route severely curtailed. In such cases, the rebels of Syrian origin prefer to surrender under the general amnesty program. Almost 10,000 militants from different groups are holed up in the mountains as the battle intensifies.
