From now, it becomes easy for the pensioners to get their medical bills reimbursed in Punjab. The state government has issued notification simplifying the medical reimbursement bills of pensioners and their dependents by reducing the lengthy process of reimbursing of medical bills.

Divulging details, an official spokesman said that the pensioners and their dependants residing in Chandigarh, Mohali, Panchkula and its adjoining areas would produce the medical bills before the concerned Heads of Department, who would resolve their cases as per the fresh directions of Punjab Government and if required could referred the issue to Director Health.

The spokesman said that the pensioners and dependants residing in other areas of the state would produce their reimbursement cases before the district head of those departments, from which they retired. He said that in case of unavailability of department heads in the district, the applicants could register their case with the civil surgeon for approval. "Besides such cases, the State Government has paid special attention towards those pensioners and their dependants, who were residing outside the state of Punjab," he said.

He said that in these cases Government has asked to the Department Heads to accept their cases for approval. He said that the necessary directions in this regard have been issued to all concerned authorities. He said that earlier the family members of pensioners had to adopt lengthy process for reimbursement of medical bills but now the pensioners would not have to face problems.
