The deserted bus stands left many people stranded in various parts of the state on Friday as the state government diverted around 1700 government buses to the Anandpur Sahib to fetch maximum number of people at the inauguration ceremony of the newly built Sikh museum called ‘Virasat-e-Khalsa’.

Interestingly, the private buses, especially run by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal’s family, were seen running at all routes making bucks in absence of public transport.

On being asked about the reason behind the scarcity of government buses, a bus driver employed with a public transport company told that around 1700 buses have been diverted to the Anandpur Sahib while skipping their regular routes.
