This is with reference to the article Shall we Dance, Big Brother? by Anu Gulmohar, on the hue and cry created over the infamous kissing episode involving Hollywood star Richard Gere and Indian actor Shilpa Shetty. The West is comfortable with this type of affection in public. The repeated play of the footage of the incident on the news channels has made a mountain of the mole hill. It has been rightly pointed out that while Indian women are repeatedly gangraped and brutally killed, many of the foreigners are molested, cheated, ravished and murdered and there is not even a murmur of protest from the champions of culture. Our electronic media should behave in a responsible manner and resist from adding fuel to the fire by running such nonsense at prime time.
