On June 10, 2011, there was a chaos in Haridwar because a high profile swami on fast was battling against death. Whole government machinery of Nishank Government was after saving his life. The BJP Chief Minister, Nishank, was blaming Centre for the worsening situation of Baba Ramdev who had started crusade against corruption.

But in the same hospital there was another crusader who was fighting against illegal mining in Ganga basin. Swami Nigamanad was keen to save river Ganga – holy mother of crores of Indian. He was on hunger strike since last two and half months but not a single politician or a member of civil society was keen to join his movement because he had not any fame like Baba Ramdev. He was a lone crusader.

On the day when Baba Ramdev was discharged from the hospital, Swami Nigamanad put his soul and passed away after marathon hunger strike of 73 days. No body took note about his crusade. Not a single media person was interested in his fight. He was in the same ICU where Baba Ramdev was treated for two days. A lone crusader against rising pollution in holy Ganga river breathed his last just Baba Ramdev broke his fast.

It seems that people and media are only interested high profile things. They like Satyagrah of high profile Yoga Guru, Baba Ramdev, but are not interested in Swami Nigamanand’s honest cause which can be a blessing for millions of people residing in the plains of Ganga. Media was interested in only high profile activism of Anna Hazare and his team but nobody had even cared to give a single visual or single column place to Swami Nigamanand’s genuine cause.

What can be said about our politicians? At one hand, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand was blaming UPA Government for the deteriorating situation of Baba Ramdev but, at the same time, he was unaware of Swami Nigamanand, who was under treatment in the same hospital and same ICU ward in which Baba Ramdev was also admitted.

This is our fate. Common people, Common crusaders, Common Satyagrah have no value in this high profile country.
