Czech Priest for Templeton Prize

Tomas Halík, 65, a Czech priest and philosopher has won the 2014 Templeton Prize for advocating dialogue among different faiths and non believers. He first shot into prominence for advancing religious and cultural freedoms after the Soviet invasion of his country, and was condemned by his government as an “Enemy of the regime” in 1972. The award was won by Pandurang Shastri Athavale in 1997 and by Baba Amte in 1990.
