Finding the safer haven

 

 

With reference to your editorial "The World needs Dubai" in The Sunday Indian (TSI, December 7-13), I would like to express my views. Dubai indeed is a haven for the middle-class and lower middle-class sections of India as far as employment is concerned. The construction sector in particular has been by far the largest employment generating segment for the skilled workers, all of whom are remitting funds back home. There is no argument to the fact that the Dubai Airport is the only place where you will come across people belonging to various nationalities and from every nook and corner of the globe. It is indeed a melting pot of people and cultures. Some are transiting towards their final destinations while some are on just a virtual shopping spree. It will not be long enough that the situation will become normal and will bounce back within a short span of time.
