Divided states of india?

The British people once made their power felt by dividing and ruling India. Do we need to divide India into many divisions to the whims and fancies of our leaders to bring progress to a halt? Prof Chaudhuri took pain to highlight that smaller states suffer from dismal growth and mal administration besides undue burden to the exchequer! The Centre should have second thoughts before implementing a political decision.
