This is with reference to The high and the humbled. It appears that judicial activism has sent shock-waves in the high-profile circles which till now loved to play around with the law. The media shouldn’t give rise to the absurd perception that the judiciary loves to cross swords with the who’s who when it’s crystal clear that legal dictums govern the business of courts. It’s surprising that when the judiciary does it’s job perfectly and speedily it’s greeted with brickbats on being accused of judicial ‘overreach’! A laid-back judiciary would only encourage the so-called demigods to make a mockery of the democratic norms. Remember, when star criminals get punishment, it gives a ray of hope to the innocent people, who are trapped in fake litigations. After all, it’s the quantum of punishment which prevents the other bigwigs from breaking the law with impunity.
