Th is is with reference to your article ‘Mai’ story. Th e courage and optimism of Mukhtaran bibi give her an iconic status. Considering the fact that Pakistan is plagued by archaic mindsets of mullahs and feudals, the determination to seek justice is astonishing. She managed to focus the attention of the international media towards the miserable state of women in Pakistan, to a great extent. Despite being a little irked, President Musharraf had to make amends nevertheless. She has shown a ray of hope to other women reeling under the unspeakable conditions in Pakistan. Th ey seek inspiration from her story. It’s no secret that Pakistan has become a haven for the maniacs, killing in the name of honour. Th e eff orts of Mukhtaran prove that a woman’s courage can surpass anything. Th e way she has managed to carve a path for herself and the rest makes her personality unparalleled, being both awesome and inspiring.
