Dear Arindam Chaudhuri, your cover story "Autumn of the Satraps" (TSI, Jan- 18-24) by the eminent writer Tathagata Bhattacharya, throws light on how do these regional political parties function. It also focuses on the chronology of the mainstream rulers and how they all have their say on making decisions. The writer took pains to clarify how Lalu falls with the list of a few numbers and Nitish wins laurels for his clean image. Next comes the Telugu satraps, who are in the word of the author 'Congressiation' that made the government of YSR possible! It is no wonder that the Reddys and Kammas who dominated Andhra Pradesh do not comprise more than 20 per cent of the population. The fall of Naidu, who gave Hyderabad a face-lift with IT parks without thinking about the rest of the agrarians, comprises 80 million people who made him bite the dust! Did he thought of becoming the king again? However, the writer's choice of quotes from his fellow reporters are apt.
