To a reaction from one of my former colleagues who said it was good, I said, 'now, be prepared for the retaliation'. My purpose was to bring them down to ground, but I had not even the faintest idea of what kind of retaliation it would be. Then came the reaction from President Bush, “We will smoke them out”. Rest is history!
Muslims also had their version of 9/11. Like in everything, they found the hand of Jews in this act too. There were stories that not even a single Jew died in 9/11 attack and all the Jews, working in twin tower, were on leave on that day. Was it Al Qaeda, led by Osama Bin Laden, or any other agency? But I believe that without assistance of the insider an act of such gravity cannot be materialised, and if it happens then Osama, who was groomed by American agencies, learned lessons more than what was being taught to him and was able to outwit his tutors.
It is a common saying 'In politics, if you do not have an enemy, invent one'. So after the end of the cold war the US became a Chaudhary and a Chaudhary need to have an enemy to show his strength. So US created one, Osama Bin Laden.
Osama, really, served his masters well. In Osama, they had an enemy of their choice and above all now, there is no one who blames CIA for anything in the world, whereas there was a time when, even for heavy downpour, CIA was held responsible. Now, for everything, we have Al Qaeda. Some of my friends say it is a case of double role.
No one except Muslims can realise what Al Qaeda has done to Muslims. Recently, I was in a seminar where senior journalist, Vinod Mehta, said in his address, 'Islam is a problem' and former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor echoed his sentiments 'not faith but faithfuls are problem'. Forget who is doing what but see that no one should have a feeling of victory over bad otherwise one cannot 'held his/her head high'. Anyway, it is a sigh of relief that Osama Bin Laden is no more and a chapter of terrorism is almost over; but now we should be more vigilant about the civil societies.
