DIODES TO LIGHT UP HOMES

 

 

In a country like ours, where electricity is burning ever bigger holes in the pockets of the population, the best alternative to save electricity is the compact fluorescent lamp (CFL).

But a new technology called 'Organic light-emitting diodes' (OLEDs) will soon become available for the masses. Scientists have succeeded in making the diodes brighter by placing hexagonal array of lenses, which reflect light outward, thus boosting light output by 70%.
