Rahul Gandhi may not be leaving any opportunity to hold Mayawati responsible for the bad law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh, but when the representatives of All India Madarsa Modernization Teachers Association met him recently, they informed about their sufferings for which Central Government is responsible.

The Maulana's have not received their salaries since last two years in Uttar Pradesh. In 1993 the Central Government had launched a scheme country wide to modernize education system in Madrasa schools to improve the standard of education. At present Uttar pradesh has 4,445 Madarsa's in total and by end of 2011 there would be 6,445 Madrasa's.

As per the central scheme guidelines, each Madarsa would hire four teachers to teach science, maths, geography and other subjects. Under this scheme, 14,028 teachers are working in U.P at present. Since last 2 years none of these 14,028 teachers have been paid there salaries. All these teachers have been hired on temporary basis for the last 17 years, therefore there salaries are in the range of Rupees 3,000 to 12,000 per month.

According to Maulana Abdus Salam, ex MLA from Azamgarh district, the requirement for more Madarsa's is growing each day as the number of students are also increasing; but new hiring has been stopped since 2008.
