Build national character

With reference to the editorial, “The citizens of this subcontinent stand betrayed…” (TSI, Sept 6-12), I would like to say that while I entirely agree with Arindam Chaudhuri, a very pertinent question arises that why the players of the sub-continent always get caught for their misdeeds? They not only get the sport event tainted but also bring the stigma to their country. Above all, their reaction or so to say body language speaks as “couldn’t care less”. People of both the countries seem to be suffering from a common ailment that is lack of national character and the love for the country. The same trend can be seen in other spheres as well. Today corruption and bribery are present in almost all areas and it might persist till we build a national character and strong desire to uphold the prestige of the country.
