Arindam Chaudhuri’s column Khao Aur Khilao Budget (TSI, June 29-July 5) was a masterpiece. You have rightly suggested that Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee should allocate more money in this budget to the social sector — employment, health, education and housing. We know that successive governments have ignored this important sector. Since independence they have been promoting capitalism, a system that discriminates against the poor. People, like me, have great faith in this new Congress-led UPA government that this time around the administration will not ignore aam aadmi — India’s backbone. Also, I would request the TSI management to post a copy of this magazine to the Finance Minister and bureaucrats so that they know the real issues plaguing Indians.
