The Aditya Birla group-led Hindalco, plans to go down under to increase production of its copper concentrate mines at Nifty and Mount Gordon. This Australian venture would enable it to get increased concentrate supplies. They has come with plans to double production at the Mount Gordon mine in Queensland to about 40,000 tonnes in the next two years. The western Australian Nifty sulphide copper mining project has already been increased up to 60,000 tonnes which is one of the world’s largest underground copper mine commissioned in the past 10 years by the Indian giant.
