A grim tale

Your cover story, “Playing with God...country,” (TSI, Aug 23-29) aptly exposes murky and bloody happenings in Kerala and has lifted the veil from the benighted land which has been known by the sobriquet God's own country. The political, bureaucratic and security establishments for electoral expediency ignore the canker and cancer of sectarianism and virulent communalism. Compulsions of electoral politics and vicious hold of vote bank politics make the situation more grim. The ball is in the court of various stakeholders who want peace, communal harmony, good governance and rule of law to take up the gauntlet, otherwise the ship of the state would submerge like Titanic leaving in its trail the message of the grim reaper that life can be 'nasty, brutish and short'.
