An earthquake measuring 5.6 on the Richter Scale hit Kashmir today morning at 11:36 AM. There have been no reports of any kind of loss because of the moderate-intensity earthquake.
An official of the disaster management cell said, "An earthquake of magnitude 5.6 on the Richter Scale occurred in Northwest Kashmir at 11.36 AM ". He further added that the epicentre of the quake was in Gilgit area, which is under Pakistani control.
This is the same area that was hit by a massive earthquake in 2005 that lead to death of some 75,000 unfortunate people.
