I first came to Tokyo because of a coin flip. There were good deals on flights to Istanbul and Tokyo, so Istanbul was heads and Tokyo was tails. Tails won, but the destination hardly mattered – the purpose of the trip was to get out of normal life, not to go anywhere in particular.
