I was recently appalled after hearing reactions in the media by top notch government officials as well as state ministers. They were responding to the gang rapes of women which definitely seem to be on the rise. To my surprise there were no sensitive statements empathising with the victim. On the contrary, the minister openly branded it as a conspiracy by the opposition party.
