A Delhi youth hanged himself to death at his Ambedkar Nagar residence on Saturday.

His family alleged that local police was harassing him in connection with a cellphone theft case.

According to the youth’s family members, police used to suspect Raju of committing mobile phone thefts and pick up him up for interrogations. The family had even approached court.

The court in its orders had directed the police not to harass Raju since police could never make any recoveries of stolen mobiles from him. But despite this the police continued to pick up and torture Raju whenever some mobile phone theft was reported from the area.

On Saturday morning, the family discovered Raju’s body hanging from the fan. Police was informed and subsequently the body was shifted to All India Institute of Medical Sciences for an autopsy.
