The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has once again asked the world community to pressurize Israel in order to achieve an independent Palestinian state. The annual conference of OIC Foreign Ministers in the capital of Guinea, Conakry, saw Chairman Mahmoud Ali Youssouf strongly rooting for a separate state. The OIC works to “safeguard and protect the interests of the Muslim world in the spirit of promoting international peace and harmony. It is incumbent upon us to continue our advocacy for the creation of a Palestinian state …,” the OIC chairman said, adding, “To this end it is for the international community to take measures to put an end to the Israeli occupation, the continuation of settlements and abuses committed against the Palestinian people.”
