No mobile phone for unmarried girls

In a unanimous decision over the misuse of cell phone by teenagers – especially teenage girls – Paikali Khandayat Samaj (PKS) in Orissa's Ganjam district directed all its members not to provide any cell phone to their unmarried daughters.

A three days meeting of PKS was held at Jagannath Prasad in which hundreds of its members participated. The members were worried about the misuse of cell phone especially by the unmarried girl.

The chairman of PKS Somanatha Nayak said that the cell phone is now a days diverting the youth from right track. “Girls are more vulnerable than boys by using the cell phone,” Nayak said.

To curb the menace of misuse of cell phones, several collages and educational institutions across the state banned the use of cell phone in the institution premises. “I think there is no urgency of using cell phone by the unmarried girls who are not in government or private job or out side,” Nayak said.

PKS urged its members should follow the guidelines for betterment of their children. As an estimation now more than 10 thousands family are the member of PSK. If members will abide by the decision, them minimum one thousands girl would lost their mobile phone.
