NABARD sanctions over Rs 6000 cr The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development has sanctioned Rs 6,318.27 crore for various projects in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry during fiscal 2011-12, up by 47 per cent over the same period of previous year.
 
During the period 2010-11 the banks' refinance was extended for crop loans at Rs 2,620 crore and for other short term purposes Rs 330 crore. It was also extended to co-operative banks for financing weavers' societies to Rs 230 crore,NABARD Chief General Manager Lalitha Venkatesansaid in a statement.
 
NABARD is implementing 16 subsidy schemes across sectors like animal husbandry, cold storages, rural godowns, solar lighting and heaters.
 
Some 154 watersheds in 25 districts of Tamil Nadu covering 1.81 lakh hectares is under implementation through grant and loan support from watershed development fund administered by NABARD, the statement added.
