Make purchases on bills and win prizes in Punjab

To check tax pilferage in the state, Punjab’s excise and taxation department on Thursday announced to give attractive prizes to consumers who purchase goods on bills.

The scheme has been mooted by Punjab’s Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal who also holds the portfolio of excise and taxation to encourage the buyers to insist on bill.

He has directed the department hold a draw of lots every month on the bills submitted by retail consumers to the excise and taxation department and prizes will be declared district wise and state wise also.

He said that this move besides encouraging the compliance, would educate the consumers regarding their rights and duties.
