Cong confident of wresting MCD from BJP

Delhi Pradesh Congress committee president Jai Prakash Agarwal is confident of winning seats in all the newly constituted three MCD corporations. He told TSI all the three mayors would be of Congress because people of Delhi have seen the misrule of MCD under the BJP regime. 

 

Negating any kind of resentment among Congress workers because of ticket distribution, Agarwal said: “There is no resentment among workers. The ticket distribution was transparent and for the first time a formula was introduced under which the process of distribution was totally decentralized. I succeeded when all the members presented themselves before the apex body”.

 

While he leaves no opportunity to criticize BJP for its misrule but says that the corruption issues at the Centre and state governments will not affect the results. Despite the fact that he was not happy with the decision of MCD trifurcation and 50 per cent reservation for women taken by the Sheila government, he is going extra mile to praise the same decisions, saying that“these decisions will surely help Congress in the elections”.

 

All leaders and some film stars are campaigning for Congress candidate but Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and president of Delhi Congress Jai Prakash Agarwal have not yet campaigned together. “There are no differences we all are working for Congress party and both of us are busy campaigning in the elections,” said Agarwal.

 

Though he appeared to be concerned with regard to some seat but says “the traditional Congress vote is intact and there is no SP or BSP effect. “People of Delhi know that we have done and are capable of doing thus they will vote for us”.
