Zombie Apocalypse Returns...

Right from the word go, World War Z propels you into a dark, dreary world where zombies are attacking and infecting everyone around and humanity is pushed into a few safe zones. If you are thinking this is another of those zombies running wild style action flick, you would be right, but then again, a well made zombie film is far better than a poorly made novelty film.

Brad Pitt playing Gerry Lane, a former UN investigator who is forced to return to his previous post and investigate the pandemic drives the story in the usual fashion of highly stylised action and dialogue sequences. Along the way we realise that the south koreans have coined the term “zombie” and the zombies do not attack the weak, as it doesn’t spread the virus as effectively.

All this might sound exciting to The Walking Dead crowd who might be expecting a barrage of dead bodies and gore. Fortunately, this film skips all that and yet remains extremely thrilling. Marc Foster seems to have used his directing skills with the highest amount of precision and has kept it tense and steady instead of taking the dead too seriously.
Overall, it is one of the better films this summer and a must watch, no matter whether zombies attract you, repel you, or turn you on (if you are into that sort of thing)... Oh, did I mention, Brad Pitt?
