Will rahul magic work?

 

 

This refers to “Litmus test” (TSI, Aug16-22). I do not agree with you that Rahul Gandhi can bring some surprise in the coming Bihar elections. There is no doubt about his charisma amongst the voters and masses, but if it will convert into votes is a big question. The Congress might be sounding optimistic but they also know where they stand. It is a fight between JD(U)-BJP and RJD, and the rest are almost irrelevant players. As Laloo is also fighting for his survival in the coming polls, he will not leave any stone unturned to ensure to win votes. What Congress lacks is the grass root cadre base which builds the party and in the last decade or so, it has been vanishing fast and has become a fringe party from once a leading proposition. If Rahul Gandhi succeeds in bringing Congress on even the fourth spot, it should be considered as an achievement.
