When love and time collide...

 

 

Tell us about Love Story 2050? What’s your role in the film?

Well, I play a double role in the film and that’s what is very exciting for me. Love Story 2050 is basically a love story set in the future. It starts in 2008 and then goes on to 2050 and I think that’s the USP of the film.

Tell us about your look in the film, did you have any apprehension before going all red?

Of course, I was really, really scared when I got it done, because I thought it will ruin my hair. It was a big decision for me but then I ended up looking good. I, however, got rid of it as soon as I finished shooting, because I was shooting for other films as well.

How was it shooting with robots instead of humans? No cat fights at least, right?

(Laughs) It was good, because after a point you start believing that they are not robots, but real. And even though some four people were required to make them function, they still looked remarkably lifelike.

How was it working with Harman Baweja? Considering he is a newcomer, how much would you rate him on a scale of one to 10?

It was great working with Harman; he is extremely professional and very talented. It was very refreshing to see somebody new work like that. It will be very difficult for me to rate him. I think I will be very biased because I am his first heroine.

And...

I would definitely give him 9 out of 10.

Your first huge hit was Aitraaz, which changed your image completely and brought you a lot of recognition. Was there a conscious effort to change your look? Any apprehension before taking up that role?

Not at all. My first film, Andaaz, did pretty well and Aitraaz was not at all a conscious effort, in fact nothing is a conscious effort for me. I had no apprehension before taking it up but then it’s so difficult to make that transition when you're perceived to be glamorous... Even a glamorous role should be performance-oriented and that is the way I looked at Aitraaz.

After Krishh and Don, you were called the Super-woman of Bollywood. Are you otherwise a fitness freak?

Not really. I've never been one, but I just try and keep myself in shape based on the characters that I am playing.

How much has Bollywood changed you? Did your family always support your decision to take up acting?

Not much. I am pretty much the same person, but Bollywood definitely has changed in front of my eyes (laughs). My parents were always very supportive. They always told me that they would support me in whatever I would want to do, in every possible way.

Does the thought of failure make you nervous? What is it that you fear in life?

Failure is not an option in my life. I always believe that you have to always strive for the best. Second is something I might settle for, but I detest failing. And the thought of losing my memory scares me.

Tell us about a rumour about yourself which you found very amusing?

I was doing this swimming pool scene and there was a rumour that I had requested for mineral water to be filled inside the pool.

Tell us about your forthcoming films?

Well, I have Drona, Fashion, God Tussi Great Ho and Dostana releasing this year. And I am pretty excited about them.
