You were Congress in charge of Delhi. How do you account for this disastrous result and even defeat of the chief minister?

Normally, local issues work in elections but since this is Delhi the national capital, both local and national issues coincide. Inflation has been the main issue but half-baked impossible promises made in elections became the bane of the Congress. But as you can see, no one has got a majority in Delhi. Congress had come on a development platform; alas we lost.
The party campaign in Delhi was quite lukewarm. Even Rahul’s rallies failed to attract crowds. Outgoing chief minister Sheila Dixit has said that she did not the support of the organization.

We have received complaints and we are taking stock. Owning up moral responsibility, JP Agrawal has quit. All these issues will come up at the AICC special session.
A word about this special Congress session. In the past too, such events have been held but beyond theoretical clap trap, most things tend to remain on paper.

The assembly results will have to studied seriously. It would be incorrect to say that Congress sessions only talk and not do much about improving things.
At Burari, Sonia Gandhi had called for leaders to interact with their cadres. At the Jaipur Chintin Shivir, those responsible for the UP debacle were to have been taken to task. But nothing has really happened on ground.

It would be incorrect to say that nothing has happened but certainly drawbacks will be scrutinized at the special session.
