Oil or ‘black gold,’ fuels the lives of most people around the world. We use it in our cars, to heat our homes and for a horde of manufacturing practices. Without it the world wouldn’t quite know what to do! But oil is elusive. It can be pumped out of the ground only in certain areas. And there is only so much oil in our planet. Scientists have now found an unusual way to squeeze additional crude oil out of wells that were thought to be tapped out. By using the bacillus bacteria that makes a waste product that works like a detergent. Add this to the oil well and the trapped oil can be released in much the same way as a detergent lifts the stains out of clothing. Ingenious!
