This refers to the outstanding article ‘Betrayed by Silence’ by Prashanto Banerji and the editorial ‘Hats off to SRK...’ (TSI, Feb 8-14). Prashanto has brilliantly put up his opinion on the discomforting silence. Arindam’s editorial explains the diplomatic stance taken by the participants on Thackerays dictates, a real matter of concern for the entire nation. And this is not the first incidence, we have maintained silence over innumerable instances when we should have actually spoken our mind. Most of the times we do not react to a situation if it doesn’t involve us directly and even tends to overlook the situation. In fact, it has made us a mute spectator to such nonsensical rhetorics. We are growing as isolated individuals and societies and have also failed to connect ourselves to the cause of our own society. But how long can we be at peace with ourselves, overlooking and overhearing all these? It is time to wake up now!
