Even as Pakistan as well as certain activists in the US itself continue to protest against the US drone strikes in Pakistan, at least 10 people were killed in a fresh strike on Wednesday when a US drone launched two missiles into Pakistan's northwest tribal belt.

The missiles struck a camp about 10km (six miles) south-east of Miranshah, North Waziristan, near the Afghan border, the officials said. Those killed included foreign fighters, but their nationalities were not specified. The dead include senior al-Qaeda and Taliban leaders, as well as an unknown number of other militants and civilians.

The strike came just a day after Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar said the issue of US drone attacks was unresolved. Pakistan would continue to raise the issue with the US. On the other hand, last month US President Barack Obama defended the use of drones to target militants in Pakistan's tribal areas, leading to speculation that despite the diplomatic tussle that continues between the two countries over the issue, the strikes may, as of now, continue.
